"As an Australian artist and writer I've been painting direct from nature, 'en plein air', for two decades.

Based on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, about an hour drive from Melbourne, I have painted wild coastal cliffs scenes, misty gum-treed valleys to sun-drenched bay beaches.

Inspiration comes to me when I'm outdoors surrounded by the calmness and beauty of nature, as it must have for the Impressionist painters of the past.

My 'en plein air' and studio artworks are painted in a variety of media - watercolour, oil, acrylic, and gouache.

I also work in linocut hand-printing, and a method of capturing floating oil pigments on water in the manner of the Japanese technique, suminagashi.

I am inspired by the paintings of local peninsula artist the late Ted Young (a mentor for many years), Tasmanian artist Philip Wolfhagen, and artists from the past, William Turner, Violet Teague and John Peter Russell."
